I’m not sure about you, but I don’t read the same books I did as a teen.
I don’t watch the same TV shows.
I surely don’t wear the same polyester clothes.
So why is it that my early musical preferences still linger? (I bet yours do too)
It’s all about nostalgia says Petr Janata, PhD of the Center for Mind and Brain at the University of California, Davis.
Nostalgia is a positive emotion.
Nostalgia boosts our sense that life has meaning.
Nostalgia makes us more optimistic about the future and it fosters a stronger sense of connection to others.
Dr Janata says that the music of our youth is intertwined with memories of key events that occurred and brings us joy.
So break out those old 8 tracks, or cassettes, or 45 records, or albums, or maybe even a CD.
For me….take that old record off the shelf…how about you?
It’s all good and should brighten a difficult day!
Smiles, have a GREAT week and Keep on Seeking…..Mark
